The new Amazon's second generation Kindle Paperwhite ebook readers are now available in the country via Amazon India. According to the company, The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G are priced at Rs. 10,999 and Rs. 13,999 respectively.
Amazon had introduced both the new Kindle Paperwhite ebook readers in the middle of January, making them available for pre-order with deliveries starting from February 4.The new generation Kindle Paperwhite ebook readers were launched in the US back in September last year. On the other hand, however, the company has already stopped selling the older Paperwhite on its India website.
The New Kindle Paperwhite comes with the same 6-inch display with a 1024 x 768 pixels resolution and 212 ppi pixel density.Kindle Paperwhite features new display technology with improved built-in light and is powered by 25% faster processor and new touch technology with 19% tighter touch grid for better sensitivity.It comes with the dual WiFi 802.11 b/g/n support with a 2 GB of internal memory (1.25 GB user accessible memory) to store about 1000 Books.
One of the major highlights of the software features in the new Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G e-readers is the integration with Goodreads, a book lovers' community that Amazon acquired earlier this year. This new feature will allow Kindle owners to see what their friends are reading, share highlights, and rate the books they read with other Goodreads users,
all from their Kindle.
It offers Facebook and Twitter integration for sharing recommendations, highlighted sections and quotes.It features a New Smart Lookup which integrates a full dictionary definition with other reference information about a word, character, topic or book via X-Ray and Wikipedia.
the ebook readers are also available from 250 retail outlets in the country, including Croma, Reliance Digital, E-Zone and Vijay Sales stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Pune.
