Report: Microsoft Said to Cut Windows 8.1 licensing Price by 70%

According to a recent report given by Bloomberg, Microsoft is will Cut Windows 8.1 licensing Price by 70%.

Report also note that, Microsoft is planning to cut price of Windows 8.1 license from $50 to $15 for PC manufacturers retailing devices less than $250.This move is reportedly designed to combat rival low-costs tablets and Chromebooks.A report by Bloomberg also adds that the discounted price can be applied to any product without any restrictions of the size or type of device.

Early this month, Microsoft said that it has sold more than 200 million licenses of Windows 8 with a growth rate slower than the previous Windows 7.It is being speculated that by cutting down the licensing fees, Microsoft would be able to bump-up its share of $80 billion tablet market and surpass Chromebooks and other notebooks running on Google's OS.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 now has the ability to detect your hardware and adjust settings accordingly.
If you're using a tablet, the operating system will show the Modern UI. If you're using a laptop/desktop, your system will automatically enable boot to desktop among a number of other tweaks which make the operating system easier to use with a mouse.

Microsoft, which named Satya Nadella as chief executive officer earlier this month, is seeking to speed up development and introduction of new devices. It won’t require products that use the cheaper licensing to complete logo certification, a process that verifies hardware compatibility, one of the people said. Devices aren’t required to be touch-screen compatible, they said.
