Lenovo India launches ThinkPad S1 Yoga and new range of ThinkPad ultrabooks

Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad S1 Yoga hybrid notebook and new ThinkPad ultrabooks, T440, T440s and X240s, for the Indian market. All the four are devices targetted at business users and enterprises and as such bring a slew of security features.

All the four devices are powered by Intel's Haswell Core processors, which means great performance, but not at the cost of battery life. However, Lenovo has priced all notebooks on the higher side, with the ThinkPad S1 Yoga starting at Rs 80,000, and the T440 Ultrabook from Rs 78,000 onwards, while the T440s and ThinkPad X240s can be had for Rs 90,000 and 95,000 onwards.

The S1 Yoga is a business-friendly version of Lenovo’s popular multi-mode notebook. It can do a 360-degree flip from laptop mode to stand mode and tent mode to tablet mode. When in tent or stand mode, the keyboard is disabled. It comes pre-loaded with the Intel SBA platform, that secures your sensitive data from unauthorised access. Users have an option of Core i3, i5 and i7 for the processor, with the 12.5-inch touchscreen being made available in HD or full HD resolutions. There’s Intel HD 4400 graphics, which is a standard Haswell integrated graphics card. 4GB DDR3 SDRAM is standard and can be upgraded up to 8GB. Storage options include hard drives of 1TB or 500GB or SSDs of 128GB or 256GB. The S1 Yoga runs on Windows 8.1 Pro and comes with a battery that is claimed to provide up to 8 hours of battery.

The ThinkPad T440 Ultrabook features 14-inch HD or HD+ screen with optional multitouch capability. In terms of storage, it’s got a 1TB HDD and is touted for 10+ hours of battery life. Lenovo says the T440 has military-grade durability and a fibre glass design that makes it sturdy yet light.

The ThinkPad T440s come with wide range of connectivity options and touch capability with Windows 8 Pro. This too has carbon fibre top cover that makes the device light and durable. It comes in 320GB HDD option as well as includes 1TB and SSD options as well. It is based on the Windows 8 Pro.

And finally the 1.28 kg ThinkPad X240s Ultrabook. The company claims this is the thinnest and lightest full-featured ThinkPad in its line-up at just 17.65 mm thin. The ThinkPad X240s offers a VGA webcam, mini display port and two USB 3.0 ports for connectivity. It sports a 12.5-inch HD touch display. The company claims that the ThinkPad X240s can deliver up to 7 hours of battery life.
