Nokia has expanded its Asha portfolio in the country with the launch of Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 featurephones.
Nokia Asha 500 is priced at Rs 4,499 (excluding taxes) and will go on sale in India in late December. Nokia Asha 502 has been launched at a suggested retail price of Rs 5,969 (excluding taxes) and Nokia Asha 503 will be sold at Rs 6,799 (excluding taxes) and will go on sale in January 2014. The Asha 502 was silently released in India last week.
Nokia Asha 500 features 2.8-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) display and runs the new Nokia Asha software platform with Swipe UI. It sports a 2MP rear camera, and offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and FM Radio. It is a 2G only phone, so data rates would be slow without Wi-Fi.
The Nokia Asha 502 and the Asha 503 both feature a 3.0-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) display and also run the Nokia Asha software platform v1.1 with Swipe UI. The Asha 503 also features curved Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The two phones sport a 5MP camera with LED flash. While the Asha 502 offers support for only 2G data connectivity, the Asha 503 offers 3G data connectivity.
All of the three Asha phones come with dual-sim support and microSD card slots.
The phones come preloaded with WhatsApp, and Nokia is offering free access to the Nokia Music service for a period of 3 months.
All the three new Asha devices follow the new design language, with the crystal frame wrapped around the device. On the software side, the phones run on the new Asha platform that introduces a new UI with easy swipe-able multiple homescreens with Fastlane feature among others. All the three devices also get free subscription to Nokia Music for a period of three months.
